'Let's Get Physical'
Whether you're embarking on the journey to fitness, seeking a quick-fix solution, or feeling indifferent, you've landed here for a reason. Perhaps you're yearning for that spark of motivation to ignite your passion for exercise. Well, let's cut to the chase, when it comes to fitness, we all need some unfiltered truth.
My personal journey with finding the best exercise solution has been nothing short of an adventure. But before you conjure up images of a glamorous Parisian escape, let me clarify. It's been more like being dragged reluctantly into the unknown. This relationship didn't kick off with fireworks and blossoming affection; it was built on compromises and mutual sacrifices. Yet, over time, something happened. Each day brought incremental improvements, forging a love-hate kinship with every step we took together.
Let's Give it Time
Patience is key. Developing a positive rapport with exercise doesn't happen overnight; it's a journey that requires time and commitment. For me, that breakthrough moment came when I discovered yoga, specifically, Yoga with Adrienne.
I started with her 'Yoga for Complete Beginners' video and fell in love with her endless range of videos. From 'Bedtime Yoga' to one of my favourites, 'Yoga for Courage'. From that point, I put in time and effort and the relationship wasn't fleeting.
Remember, it's essential to explore activities that resonate with you. Personally, running never quite clicked for me, I blame it on my, let's say, generous chest. However, fueled by the motivation cultivated through yoga, I occasionally lace up my running shoes. It may only be for a brisk 10-minute jog, but still.
Let's Get Motivated
Finding motivation to exercise, especially in the depths of winter, can be a real challenge. Yet, the impact on your mental well-being is immeasurable. On those days when motivation is lacking, I've learned the true power of even the smallest effort. Taking action, no matter how modest can shift my mindset.
"Physical activity has a huge potential to enhance our well being. Even a short burst of 10 minutes’ brisk walking increases our mental alertness, energy, and positive mood."

I've witnessed individuals alight with motivation, hitting the gym daily, pumping hectic weights, sculpting their bodies with rigorous workouts, and meticulously planning their fitness routines. However, this enthusiasm doesn't always stand the test of time. For those grappling with motivation but eager to kickstart their fitness journey, start small and progress gradually. Find some form of exercise that is sustainable to you, something you can see yourself doing long term.
Whether it's a leisurely stroll, a few sets of jumping jacks, or even those convenient bed exercises we've all stumbled upon in our Pinterest scrolls, the key is finding an activity that resonates with you and is sustainable. If you start here you may see some results or simply feel better in the mind and body. Although the results could be slight, those little results could push you to explore a bit more and venture into doing other exercises, or perhaps exercising for longer than you would.
Let's Make a Pragmatic Choice
My fitness journey began with yoga, gradually transitioning to brisk walks on the treadmill and eventually conquering a full-kilometer run without feeling winded. The newfound strength from yoga empowered me to master ten full push-ups, I celebrate it with pride, though the eleventh push-up still eludes me.
Nowadays, my routine comprises a blend of floor exercises including lunges, squats, sit-ups, and planks, interspersed with running sessions and yoga practice. One particular routine I've embraced is the 300. Don't fear, it took me time, and I adapted it to my capabilities. With high-knee runs instead of high-knee jumps, and knee push-ups instead of full push-ups, which are just as impactful, before judging, read this. This takes me a full 15 - 20 minutes, not much to ask for. And I've gotten stronger.
Despite my varied regimen, I adhere to a pragmatic approach, when I exercise I dedicate a minimum of 20 minutes to it. Sometimes, it's just a brief 20-minute yoga session or a quick run with some walking in between. However, I've set a non-negotiable rule for myself, a minimum of three days of exercise per week. It's a realistic target that ensures consistency and progress on my fitness journey.
"There are lots of activities you can do without leaving your front door and that involves minimal cost. It can be as simple as pushing the mower with extra vigor, speeding up the housework, or doing an exercise video in the living room."

Let's Do It
In crafting your workout routine, you're not seeking a quick fix but rather laying the foundation for a sustainable and enduring commitment to exercise. It's about personalizing your journey, using the resources you have at home without succumbing to the allure of expensive gym gear or designer yoga pants, yes, I'm talking to those who relish any excuse for a shopping spree.
So, slip into something comfortable and take that initial step. Remember, this isn't about perfection, it's about progress. Be gentle with yourself; there's no need for guilt if you miss a day, I'll be the first to admit I need to follow my own advice on this front. Do this for your well-being, both physical and mental. The rewards may surprise you, motivating you to continue this journey with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.
